Be flexible in scheduling to meet the overall needs of the program. Assist in obtaining substitute teachers. Assist in the classroom when needed. Classroom Responsibilities Establish and enforce rules of behavior to create a safe and respectful classroom environment. Provide basic needs for children such as meals, snacks, and assistance with personal hygiene. Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities, ensuring they are accessible and age-appropriate. Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children, fostering engagement and understanding. Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents, fostering a supportive and communicative environment. Implement developmentally appropriate curriculum that stimulates intellectual curiosity and growth. Track children’s progress through observation and assessment, and report findings to parents regularly. Help children reach developmental milestones by providing guidance and structured learning activities. Encourage children to interact with each other to develop social skills and cooperative behaviors. Provide appropriate supervision for children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being. Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment conducive to learning. Sanitize all toys and equipment at the end of each day to maintain hygiene standards. Use a wide range of teaching methods such as stories, media, indoor and outdoor games, drawing, and crafts to engage children in learning. Identify behavioral problems and determine the right course of action in accordance with established policies and procedures. Adhere to teaching standards and safety regulations to create a secure learning environment. Prepare and lead a daily Bible study to nurture spiritual growth and understanding. Help with morning arrival and afternoon dismissal of children, ensuring a smooth transition. Demonstrate God’s love toward children and their families through words and actions. Perform other duties as assigned by the director to support the overall functioning of the childcare or educational program. We exist to make disciples in our homes, in our communities, and in the world.... About this role The PRBC's Associate Pastor role is a full-time position. In this role, you will preach and primarily lead and equip small groups ciricullum. This position will report to the Pastor. Pleasant Ridge's ministry to small groups has grown through the years to the point of needing a dedicated, full-time minister. There are currently close to 160 adults, students, and kids in our church’s small group attendance. The Associate Pastor will help provide leadership and direction for our ministry to the small group. Job Responsibilities: Sunday Service Preparations ? ? Ministry and Family Care: ? ? Children's Ministry Children's Minister Full time, 40 hours / week Pleasant Ridge Church Description Pleasant Ridge is a Southern Baptist Church located in Hueytown, AL (14 miles west of Birmingham). We exist to glorify God by making disciples in our homes, in our community, and in the world. About this role The Children’s Minister role is a full-time position. The candidate is responsible for overseeing the ministry of children from birth through 5th grade. The candidate will also be responsible for overseeing a four-day-per-week Preschool ministry. PRBC is a growing church averaging over 200 in weekly attendance with a large and growing children’s ministry. This position reports to the Senior Pastor. Primary Responsibilities: Provide Leadership in all areas of childhood education, preschool, outreach, and ministry. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree is required. Two to five years of experience in Children’s Ministry or Preschool Ministry. People skills in working with others. Christian Character Expectations: Model Christian generosity through tithing. Model Christian leadership through self-control and respect for others. Demonstrate a love for Christ through faithful prayer and Scripture reading. Demonstrate a love for the church by striving for unity through humble leadership. Demonstrate a love for children through intentional discipleship. Demonstrate a love for God’s Word by faithfully teaching its truths. Duties : Plan and direct a total Christian education program for preschool (birth through kindergarten) and children (first through fifth grades). Train and motivate workers. Work with the Nominating Committee to enlist teachers and volunteers for preschoolers and children (birth to 5th grade) on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. Plan, prepare, and coordinate VBS with the VBS Director. If no VBS Director is named, you will serve as VBS Director. Provide Mother’s Day Out/Preschool services such as administration, marketing, scheduling, and planning activities for the Mother’s Day Out and K-3/K-4 program. In consultation with the Senior Pastor, handle all personnel-related matters, including interviews, staffing decisions, and training of all paid Preschool workers. Work with the Senior Pastor and church staff in developing and managing a Preschool Budget and calendar planning. Faithfully participate in the ministries of the church family and encourage families from the Preschool ministry to do the same. Perform ministerial functions as the Senior Pastor may assign. She has served in public education since 1997 and is currently working on her Masters in Theology / PhD in Christian Education at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Laura is married to Steve, who is the fire chief at Mcadory Fire. Their hearts are full of love for their immediate family: Christin, Dan and Connor; Austin, Stephanie, Henry and Eva Rose; Aidan and Kathryn; and Ashton. He grew up in Adamsville, Alabama in a small mining community called Bayview. He graduated from Southeastern Bible College (2017) with a major in Bible and Theology. He graduated from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (2022) with his Masters of Divinity. Jake has been married to Natasha since July 2014. They have two children. He enjoys reading studying, and arguing about biblical theology, missions, and progressive covenantalism. His passion in ministry is discipling students. He thoroughly enjoys going into the backcountry to camp, hunt large animals, and catch three-inch fish in far-off places. We are a Southern Baptist church in the southwest Birmingham and west Bessemer area. Kyle Sullivan Kyle Sullivan has served in Southern Baptist churches for ten years. He began serving as Senior Pastor at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in July 2021. Kyle is originally from the Dothan, AL area (Wicksburg, AL) but relocated to Birmingham in 2012 to attend school. He received his Bachelor's in Bible and Theology from Southeastern Bible College (2016), his Master of Divinity from Beeson Divinity School (2020), and his Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching and Strategic Leadership from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (2024). Kyle loves people and he loves pastoring the people of PRBC. Kyle is married to his wife Caroline, and together, they have three children (Asher, John, and Grace). Kyle loves spending time with his family, whether 'vacationing together or spending quality time together at home. Kyle is an avid Alabama fan! He loves watching Alabama football & basketball. His favorite hobbies are golf and any game his children want to play.
