SMALL GROUPS

So much of what we are called to do as followers of Jesus is lived out during the week through small groups.

EASTER

We don’t often use the word sacrifice today, but in Jesus’ time it carried deep and eternal significance. Jewish life was shaped by God’s Law, which required strict adherence to a sacrificial system. Animal sacrifices were continually offered to cover the guilt and penalty of sin, yet they were temporary and incomplete. These repeated sacrifices pointed to a greater need that had not yet been fulfilled. In contrast, Jesus’ death on the cross became the final and sufficient sacrifice for sin, accomplishing what those offerings could not. His resurrection from the dead proved His victory over sin and death and confirmed that redemption was secured. Without Christ’s sacrifice and triumph, humanity would remain hopeless in sin.

The Gospel of Mark

On April 18, 1775, Paul Revere rode through the night to warn the colonies of approaching danger—because news that urgent must be proclaimed. Yet the message entrusted to the church is far greater. In the Gospel of John, Jesus is revealed as the eternal Word made flesh, the Light shining in the darkness, who came so that sinners might have life in His name. Humanity lies in spiritual darkness, enslaved to sin and under judgment, but God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. Through His death and resurrection, Christ has conquered sin and death and now calls all people to repent and believe.
